There have been reports of the spirit of a man and woman, believed to be original owners, Robert and Louisa Chalmers. Local legend claims when Robert began to show signs of dementia, Louisa locked him in the basement, where he starved to death. These spirits are believed to be the cause of strange unembodied noises and voices including screams and rattling chains.
